Two Heads Are Better Than One

Two Heads Are Better Than One! PART 1

Thank you for stopping by to read my blog. My challenge is to share with you great content to inspire, encourage and empower you to make choices that will best serve you in your journey. Also if you enjoyed my post please leave a comment and share with your friends on facebook and twitter.

Its often said that  “two heads are better than one”!  Over the past month as a part of the empowered tribe we have formed mastermind groups.  I am new to masterminding too, so let’s explore together in Part one!! So exactly what is this process of masterminding?Napoleon Hill said in his book “ Think and Grow Rich”The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.” and he continues ” No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.”

Have you ever been part of a group or just sitting talking with someone and all these ideas flow? Suggestions and events are created. Business ideas are created; all because of the coming together of two minds.  Ideas are created that would never have been created. Truly powerful.

What is a Mastermind Group?

“It’s a group of people who come together for a purpose where the intention is to further a common, predefined purpose by meeting as a group”, however it’s where everyone’s participation is the key” It can be explained also as a group of individuals who make up your immediate personal and professional ‘circle of advisors and influencers‘ who assist in the achievement of visions and goals.

The mastermind group needs a leader, or more correctly, a facilitator, which allows and gives structure to the group. How often the group meets is usually at the discretion of the creator and participants of the group.

Generally the purpose is that each person will want to develop and grow their business.

The benefits are exciting as you connect with like minded people and work toward the same goals. Brainstorming, sharing tips, and providing feedback creates real synergy because of the accountability structures set up to keep you focused. It also creates community by having supportive peers where you share experiences, knowledge, insights, strategies, tools, and tips to grow the business potential of every participant.

Participating in these mastermind groups allows others to see the greatness in you and the real value you add to the community as you open hearts and minds and share your dreams and goals along with your struggles and expectations.

Having a Mastermind Group is just like having your own board of directors!!!

Imagine a mastermind group….eight individuals……each with twenty years of experience, knowledge, wisdom, and passion…..a brain-bank-a vault -of one hundred and sixty years of pure gold, and those eight hold the keys to unlock those riches with their individual questions, insights and passionate desire to know the way ahead.

Mastermind Groups create win-win solutions for all participants. New friendships develop and everyone grows because of the support and encouragement of the Group. If you want to start your own mastermind group, you can.  Just do it!!    Check out Part 2 where I explore some basic questions you may have about masterminding especially if you are interested in setting up a group. This truly is a powerful tool that many do not explore or completely understand.

Please share your thoughts how Masterminding has impacted your life or have you ever considered it as an option.

Make it a terrific day !

Thank you for taking the time to stop to read my new blog post. I appreciate all my family, friends, my empowered tribe, mastermind group, online  marketers, and people just curious to check out what this blog really is  all about !!!   Please take time to share your thoughts in response.

Over the past few weeks I have been reading Everyone Communicates Few Connect by John C Maxwell. Every page has so many gems to explore. I resonate with the author. John says “If you want to succeed you must learn how to connect with people, and while it may seem like some are born with it, the fact is anyone can learn how to make every communication an opportunity for a powerful connection”.

John explores and shares five principles and five practices to develop the crucial skill of connecting

1. Finding a common ground

2. Keeping your communication simple

3. Capturing people’s interest

4. Inspiring people

5. Staying authentic in all your relationships

ONLY ONE THING STANDS BETWEEN YOU AND SUCCESS…..
IT ISNT EXPERIENCE……IT ISNT TALENT

…Its  the ability to connect with others is a major determining factor in reaching your full potential. It’s no secret! Connecting is a skill you can learn and apply in your personal professional and family relationships and you can start now.”

These principles are foundational to our success and when my friend Scott Scales shared a new tool with me a few weeks ago there was major convergence happening because it brought the power of connection to another level .

WOW this is really exciting as this new social media video platform Talk Fusion is being launched globally June 21st 2010. As a friend Glyna Humm stated in her blog post It’s  a GAME CHANGER” .   This is all about connecting with people in a way that nothing else can.

Can you imagine a salesman trying to sell TV’s that show only the subtitling and not the picture…ludicrous!  So why would we ever imagine that text emails are the standard for communication?

The possibilities are endless as this innovative technology changes the way in which we connect with our families, friends, clients, business associates and teams, peers.

Our online culture is suffering from email-overwhelm.   However those who take the time to really connect with you in  some unique way, whether face-to-face, phone, mail, cards, email, photos, Skype, social media and video will never be forgotten, even if you lose contact. You will never forget how they made you feel !!

These are the people you share with, laugh with, listen to, support, celebrate together, do business with, and even joint venture with. Bob Burg said it in The Go-Giver, “ All things being equal people will do business with, refer business to , people they know, like and trust. The power of the connection you have with people opens the door to do business, whether business of the heart, or market-place business.

Take some time to have a look at Talk Fusion. It maybe serendipity  (finding something you weren’t even aware you were looking for) to take your marketing to the next level, or to support you to reconnect with your family or team.

My friend Scott Scales has detailed how you can implement this into your social media marketing strategy.   Also Chris McCargar shared how his 84 year-old dad got excited, as he saw even he could send a video birthday greeting to his grand-daughter.

So no matter who you are, the power of video is a powerful tool to really connect and keep connected with people.

Why does the Empowered Tribe Culture ROCK?        IS IT WORTH PROTECTING???

The Empowered tribe is “the place to be”. It has been created by peers as a powerful business model for our modern online businesses.  Being connected as part of the Empowered Tribe has been a wonderful as we have experienced a culture that is quite unique.

It’s a TRIBAL culture where it’s about being connected, with care on every level, and through this connection engaging support with like-minded marketers where many benefits are received.   Its a real “Go- Giver” Culture!!!  Personally what has left a lasting impression is that the community/tribe culture its honoring, encouraging and uplifting, serving, with a generous spirit.  It’s about building and adding value into people’s lives.

Some people find it hard to understand what all the buzz is  being apart of the tribe! The syndication and masterminding together build real synergy and team work. This truly is a “Go-Giver” Culture. Lets explore what is this culture and is it worth protecting

What is a Go-Giver culture?

1. The Law of Value
Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you give in payment.
2 The Law of Compensation
Your Income will be determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.
3 The Law of Influence
Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place others’ interests first
4. The law of Authenticity
The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.
5. The Law of Receptivity
The Key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.

Read Bob Burgs book ” The Go-Giver” &” The Go-Giver Sells ” for an indepth discovery of these principles.

These five principles are foundational to the Empowered Tribe’s culture. As the tribe has shown the power of a new strategic way to promote each other and connect on Social Media that creates a buzz around our content and blogs called “Syndication”. The tribe’s goal is to show marketers on Social Media how the new professional marketers are doing business and how they can benefit being apart of this culture.

Is This Culture worth protecting?   What do you think as a Tribe member?

In the community it’s been wonderful to build relationships with people around the world from all different cultures, background, and businesses. It’s been an honor and privilege to be mentored and learning from everyone within the Empowered Tribe.

However I don’t know about you and maybe its only me  who is a little concerned when I see behavior from some bloggers who use blogs as a platform and a sounding board for their pet peeve, also denigrating anything that is new and not completely understood !!!

Is value being added to people’s lives? Are people empowered and encouraged to make choices that are best for them? Does this epitomize the “Go-Giver Culture/community”?

SO IS THIS CULTURE WORTH PROTECTING???

Please share you thoughts as I believe it’s VERY important to protect the Empowered Tribe culture that has been created by our leaders and fellow tribe members for our future tribe members. “ The GO-GIVER Culture” is a must for us to adopt. It doesn’t make us doormats or robots but empowers us to make the real difference to the online world and to our networks.
There are always people who are unable to see or comprehend that those five “ Go Giver”  laws encompass so much about our attitudes our influence, the value we add, our abundance our integrity, and being open to receive..

Thank you to Kary Rogney, Ken Pickard, Nick Logan Jon Alfredsson  and Michael Feil  for showing the way and establishing the Empowered Tribe and by protecting the culture is a way of honoring what you have created, also honoring everyone in the community. .

Please share your thoughts also steps you believe we can adopt to protect the culture of the tribe.

Make it a brilliant day

Leaders… Are you Carrots, Eggs, or Coffee???

The other day I was reading a book call “ Eating a Elephant One Bite At a Time:52 Weekly Lessons in Leadership” by Brian Klemmer. Brian is an inspiring leader. A person that is making a difference in peoples lives around the world. The book is very challenging, but something caught my attention… right in the first chapter.

“ Leaders change the situation instead of being changed by the situation

That’s a very powerful statement. Think about it. Are we people who change the situation? or are we being influenced and changed by the situation? In the last 12 weeks we have had so many personal challenges to overcome and I am personally very challenged by this statement.

Brian goes on to….

What are we most like: a carrot, an egg or coffee? All three I enjoy.
Carrot… starts out firm but when placed in boiling water it becomes limp
An egg….. starts out with a hard shell and soft in the middle, place in boiling water and the insides become hard.
Coffee… place it in boiling water and it changes the water completely !!

Australia’s Newest Hero

“ Live your dreams”

Do Dreams Make Heroes?

We all are all striving and pursuing our dreams and goals. Well why is it that some people become “heroes” while achieving our dreams? DO we have to be heroes to achieve our dreams?

What is a Hero?

Perhaps a person who, in the opinion of others, is admired for their brave deeds and noble qualities in the face of danger and adversity. They come from a position of weakness displaying distinguished courage and ability even self sacrifice…this is heroism and it affects the greater good and extended to a more general excellence. But what if heroes are in short supply? Does it take a hero to achieve their dreams, or does fulfilling the dream make the hero?

We all have different dreams from making a million $’s, to building that non-profit organization that will change underprivileged families, being able to support children in orphanages to supporting our families and other people achieve; and so when we achieve our dreams do we become heroes in their eyes?

Many people define heroism in the context of their own principles and redefine what it means.

SATURDAY’S HEADLINES…….Teenage sailor Jessica Watson has returned home to a hero’s welcome at the Sydney Harbour foreshore after her epic solo around the world voyage.

PASSION, AMBITION, BUTTER

DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?

Has anyone seen the movie “Julie & Julia”?  This week I was prompted to reminisce how entertaining, humorous and motivating this movie was especially with Julia’s interest in blogging and I was setting out on a journey of blogging too.

Briefly the movie Meryl Streep who plays Julia Child and Amy Adams as Julie Powell with the writer-director Nora Ephron’s adaptation of two bestselling memoirs: Powell’s Julie & Julia and My Life in France, by Julia Child with Alex Prud’homme.\”Julie & Julia\” Trailer
Based on two true stories, Julie & Julia intertwines the lives of two women who, though separated by time and space, are both at loose ends…until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.

This week I meet an inspiring young woman who is apart of our Empowered Tribe asking her about her niche and listening to her share about herself, her passion as she also is new to blogging. She mentioned she was in the hospitality industry and was a chef!! My response was have you seen “Julie & Julia”? She said “yes that was her inspiration”!!! So how exciting to  have our own Julia “Ann Johnston The Hospitality GURU”

Achieving Success!!

Australia’sMost Glamorous Designer

Alex Perry”

Many of us have dreams and aspirations and are busy  pursuing our goals and working steadily at them every day. At times we face many different challenges and sometimes these can derail us, or we can continue to push through to success no matter what the cost of what we are seeking to achieve.

This week is the Australian Fashion Week in Sydney and I was very interested to see a quick interview with the “Australia’s Most Glamorous Designer Alex Perry” and was inspired to share some of the points he shared.

In the interview, Alex was asked about his 18 years of being in the Fashion Industry… what was the highlight? “Being on the front page of Vogue”. What was the low light? His response was “ I had 6 years of low lights.” Even though he had articles and pages in Vogue, he still couldn’t pay to have the brakes fixed on his car!!! His wife Mary, a model, supported the dream, believing in the direction they were headed. He honored her support and how fantastic she was. The interviewer asked, “Did you ever contemplate quitting?” He said, “How could I quit?” He was too embarrassed to say that the dream wasn’t working, and then realized he had a team of people around him who together were invincible and they could achieve anything they set out to”.

Alex was correct as the Australian Fashion Week was launched Alex hosted an amazing extravagant event “With more than a thousand guests and a star-studded front row, the designer’s parade was nothing short of show-stopping.” Marie Claire.

This story is a incredible Australian success story  which after years of struggle has achieved success. When we see people like Alex we think they have always been successful  …although  Alex is just like all of us he had a dream to create a niche and now is  successful despite the years of struggle… What an encouragement to keep pursuing your dream……. and yet everyone has a journey that needs to be shared..

So what’s your journey so far  ?  Please share

Make it a terrific day

Appreciating your best friends.

Well, I am sure you have had your share of problems or obstacles today to work through  as I have.

” Problems create Value and also opportunity in our lives because they are our best friends”

1. Negative

The average person views problems as negative: bad things that happen. Problems and obstacles are to be avoided because of the pain they cause. We often feel that this shouldn’t be happening ….to me of all people!! If we are totally honest we have all felt weighed down when things don’t go as we had hoped and planned.

How can we create solutions here? There seems to be no way out. Complaining about the problem produces no answers. “You cannot create a solution with the thinking that created the problem”. (Einstein). Change your stinking thinking and the answer is often right in front of you.

Tonight on TV there was a debate about the aged pension. One lady expressed that the pension was fantastic and had found by being frugal she was still saving money and donating to charity, even on a meager pension. It was interesting that her detractors totally disagreed with this lady citing their dissatisfaction and sacrifices to lifestyles! Yet they showed one lady who was 84, and recently widowed, who had gone online and created a solution and was bringing in an income to supplement her pension!!

2. Positive

There are those who view their problems as positive: an opportunity to move forward, create value, and break through those giant obstacles that stop us in our tracks. Some folks love problems as they thrive on creating solutions. They know that without the problems they wouldn’t see the results they are creating along the way because of the problems.

The bottom line is how do we handle our problems? Its how we view these problems. I just love this quote, as it’s so powerful: “As a man thinks in his heart so is he”.

Why is it sometimes when we become focused on a goal or dream and even when you have developed laser focus… it seems that problems just appear. One writer asks, “Do problems hide in the shadows, poised to pounce, just waiting for someone brave to start achieving their goal?“

If we take the attitude that problems are our best friends, then when problems do inevitably come they become friends, counseling us to think creatively, “outside the square”.

“The more problems you can solve, the more valuable you will be, the more money you will make and the more responsibility you will have.” Brian Klemmer

Maybe we need to ask for more problems in our lives. More problems to be our best friends to stimulate us to better thinking.

Make it a terrific  day

ARE YOU STRUGGLING WITH YOUR PRODUCTIVITY?……

Looking for a Fresh Start

It struck me that all the technology, skills, networks and partnerships will never work any more efficiently than one basic element – our fragile bodies.

The health and performance of our bodies is paramount to our success in any venture. A single day’s sickness or a badly timed accident, or just a “down day” can seriously affect our moods, brain function, and productivity.

There are just three factors within our control: nutrition, exercise and lifestyle.

There is so much information, people get confused messages. So what is the bottom line in nutrition?

1. EAT FRESH – EAT RAW

Fresh is always best, if you can get.
The golden rule is “Eat low-HI” less Human Intervention is the key !!

2. EAT REAL FOOD ….
Our bodies were designed to process REAL foods, not processed foods with additives and preservatives. The body has to work hard to process these.
Eat foods that are free from chemical intervention (including herbicides and pesticides). No paranoia, no hype, just an acknowledgment that we live on a toxic planet and we must take action to protect our health.

3. EAT NUTRITIOUS FOOD:

The demineralisation of our soils, the advent and overuse of artificial fertilizers, commercial production technology have created a situation (in our Western world at least) where we are overfed and undernourished.

4. SUPPLEMENT IS NECESSARY:
Our government and media tell us to eat two servings of fruit and five vegetables every day, and recently twelve servings of wholegrains. Because of the nutritional depletion in our food, we need much more, however if we ate enough food to provide the nutrition our bodies required we wouldn’t cope with the volume or the calories. This is a key reason why I supplement every day.

SO Eat well, fellow-bloggers, we need you around and productive for the long haul.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog ,please re-tweet and leave a comment, share how you support yourself to be at your peak every day.

Make it a terriffic day
