Two Heads Are Better Than One! PART 1

Thank you for stopping by to read my blog. My challenge is to share with you great content to inspire, encourage and empower you to make choices that will best serve you in your journey.

Its often said that “two heads are better than one”! Over the past month as a part of the empowered tribe we have formed mastermind groups. I am new to masterminding too, so let’s explore together in Part one!! So exactly what is this process of masterminding?Napoleon Hill said in his book “ Think and Grow Rich” “The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.” and he continues ” No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.”

Have you ever been part of a group or just sitting talking with someone and all these ideas flow? Suggestions and events are created. Business ideas are created; all because of the coming together of two minds. Ideas are created that would never have been created. Truly powerful.

What is a Mastermind Group?

“It’s a group of people who come together for a purpose where the intention is to further a common, predefined purpose by meeting as a group”, however it’s where everyone’s participation is the key” It can be explained also as a group of individuals who make up your immediate personal and professional ‘circle of advisors and influencers‘ who assist in the achievement of visions and goals.

The mastermind group needs a leader, or more correctly, a facilitator, which allows and gives structure to the group. How often the group meets is usually at the discretion of the creator and participants of the group.

Generally the purpose is that each person will want to develop and grow their business.

The benefits are exciting as you connect with like minded people and work toward the same goals. Brainstorming, sharing tips, and providing feedback creates real synergy because of the accountability structures set up to keep you focused. It also creates community by having supportive peers where you share experiences, knowledge, insights, strategies, tools, and tips to grow the business potential of every participant.

Participating in these mastermind groups allows others to see the greatness in you and the real value you add to the community as you open hearts and minds and share your dreams and goals along with your struggles and expectations.

Having a Mastermind Group is just like having your own board of directors!!!

Imagine a mastermind group….eight individuals……each with twenty years of experience, knowledge, wisdom, and passion…..a brain-bank-a vault -of one hundred and sixty years of pure gold, and those eight hold the keys to unlock those riches with their individual questions, insights and passionate desire to know the way ahead.

Mastermind Groups create win-win solutions for all participants. New friendships develop and everyone grows because of the support and encouragement of the Group. If you want to start your own mastermind group, you can. Just do it!! Check out Part 2 where I explore some basic questions you may have about masterminding especially if you are interested in setting up a group. This truly is a powerful tool that many do not explore or completely understand.

Please share your thoughts how Masterminding has impacted your life or have you ever considered it as an option.

Make it a terrific day !

Appreciating your best friends.

Well, I am sure you have had your share of problems or obstacles today to work through as I have.

” Problems create Value and also opportunity in our lives because they are our best friends”

1. Negative

The average person views problems as negative: bad things that happen. Problems and obstacles are to be avoided because of the pain they cause. We often feel that this shouldn’t be happening ….to me of all people!! If we are totally honest we have all felt weighed down when things don’t go as we had hoped and planned.

How can we create solutions here? There seems to be no way out. Complaining about the problem produces no answers. “You cannot create a solution with the thinking that created the problem”. (Einstein). Change your stinking thinking and the answer is often right in front of you.

Tonight on TV there was a debate about the aged pension. One lady expressed that the pension was fantastic and had found by being frugal she was still saving money and donating to charity, even on a meager pension. It was interesting that her detractors totally disagreed with this lady citing their dissatisfaction and sacrifices to lifestyles! Yet they showed one lady who was 84, and recently widowed, who had gone online and created a solution and was bringing in an income to supplement her pension!!

2. Positive

There are those who view their problems as positive: an opportunity to move forward, create value, and break through those giant obstacles that stop us in our tracks. Some folks love problems as they thrive on creating solutions. They know that without the problems they wouldn’t see the results they are creating along the way because of the problems.

The bottom line is how do we handle our problems? Its how we view these problems. I just love this quote, as it’s so powerful: “As a man thinks in his heart so is he”.

Why is it sometimes when we become focused on a goal or dream and even when you have developed laser focus… it seems that problems just appear. One writer asks, “Do problems hide in the shadows, poised to pounce, just waiting for someone brave to start achieving their goal?“

If we take the attitude that problems are our best friends, then when problems do inevitably come they become friends, counseling us to think creatively, “outside the square”.

“The more problems you can solve, the more valuable you will be, the more money you will make and the more responsibility you will have.” Brian Klemmer

Maybe we need to ask for more problems in our lives. More problems to be our best friends to stimulate us to better thinking.

Make it a terrific day

First Day, Last Day Attitude !

“Every day man crucifies himself between two thieves- the regret of yesterday and the fear of tomorrow.” Benjamin Disraeli

How often do you listen to a cd in the car, and are encouraged and challenged to move forward? This happened tonight as I was driving home. Loaded a random cd and played one of my mentors, Brian Klemmer sharing about having a “ First Day, Last Day” attitude and it hit me between the eyes.

Maybe you may have heard this before but I really believe that it’s something worth repeating.

“DO YOU REGRET MORE OF WHAT YOU HAVE DONE OR WHAT YOU HAVEN’T DONE?“ and “WHAT FEARS OF REGRET ARE WE CARRYING AS WE ATTEMPT TO REACH FOR OUR DREAMS?”

“HOW DIFFERENT WOULD OUR DAY BE IF WE DIDN’T HAVE THE REGRET OF YESTERDAY AND THE FEAR OF TOMORROW ON OUR SHOULDERS?”

The challenge to consider is what is in this attitude?

FIRST DAY

• Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

• Remember your first date?…. the anticipation of our first date… time spent with each other hearts pounding heavy just to be near them and oh… that first kiss!! (Has our attitude changed over time or do we still have that spark of anticipation for the special person in our life?)

•When a new baby is born we experience the excitement of the arrival, the newness of a life with no baggage to hold them back an all the unlimited possibilities that life has to offer.

•This “first day attitude” is a day of no grudges, no regrets with our relationships, choices, or even our actions, no limitations, no past failures. Wipe your mental slate clean! It truly is a totally refreshing energizing outlook!!

• Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

LAST DAY

• Today is the last day of the rest of your life!

• Challenge, if you had only 24 hours to live. You wouldn’t put off important things till tomorrow- because you’re not guaranteed another tomorrow.

• But if we assume tomorrows always come, we don’t connect or communicate, we don’t forgive those who have offended us, and we struggle to do things we commit to. We may sense no urgency to do the things that are important to our success.

• Another reason why we don’t have a “last-day attitude” is because we don’t have a vision for our future. Afraid to BE all that we were created to BE,we get bogged down in the mundane processes of doing, and forget that we are human BEings, not human DOings!!

• When do people develop a last day attitude? Often only when their last day is literally in sight, whether financial, health, death!

• Every day when we don’t reach our dreams, is a day that we lose a measure of our life. It often happens that our dreams do not die suddenly but slowly by imperceptible degrees.

• Today is the last day of the rest of your life!

Knowledge is power, and that’s good, however it’s never enough without action. Take action NOW… write down ten things that you must do today as if this was your last day……..it may very well be.

The “First Day/Last Day Attitude” idea is a vaccine for the disease of inaction and from being paralyzed caused by fear. When we apply it, we release regret and fear, becoming empowered, excited and energized as we move forward toward our dreams.

Trust you enjoy the video!! If Today Was Your Last Day Nickelback

And demonstrated amazing leadership and focus. “His people needed a leader. He gave them a champion. He was a prisoner who became a president. To unite his country, he asked one man to do the impossible.” Despite all the obstacles he faced from being in prison for 27 years he used that time to understand what must be done to bring the nation together….
What has this man got to with us as “Internet Marketers” ?

For years I struggled with this whole concept of leadership, possibly in a negative way. I was okay to be making a difference in other people’s lives, serving, supporting, leading, loving, mentoring, caring, connecting, and adding value to people’s lives, and yet when the word “leadership” was mentioned I would run a mile.

Have you ever had a response like that? So what triggers that sort of response when we talk about leadership? Maybe it was fear: an apprehension to the responsibility that comes with being a leader. Maybe the word had bad associations. It could be the leaders in the companies, communities, churches, or network marketing companies are not the kind of leaders we desire to resemble. If they are “leaders” we do not want to be like that!!

However choosing not to move forward because of the resistance to this style of leadership portrayed can paralyze us and is detrimental to our success and any future of leading a life of true significance and being all we were created to be. We can default to be “content to play a small game”.

Be inspired! Change those faulty associations! Even if you stumble and fail in different attempts, you will still have accomplished more than if you did nothing. Just make sure that you maintain your integrity, learn the lessons, and get on with the journey!

There is so much excellent stuff on leadership and the difference an authentic leader can have on a nation, a team, a family, a church, or leading a company (and especially as an Online Marketer). I continually search for inspirational role models to “flesh-out” what is real leadership that makes a difference.

Over the Easter break I watched “Invictus” the story of Nelson Mandela’s first term as President of South Africa. It was inspirational! And demonstrated amazing leadership and focus. “His people needed a leader. He gave them a champion. He was a prisoner who became a president. To unite his country, he asked one man to do the impossible.”
Despite all the obstacles he faced from being in prison for 27 years he used that time to understand what must be done to bring the nation together….

What has this man got to with us as “Internet Marketers” ?

• Leadership is influencing through serving first and foremost
o Be a person who has a giving heart. Be a “Go-Giver”
o Be a person who adds value to peoples lives

3 Key Ingredients for Your Online SUCCESS !!

Over this past year I have been looking to develop my online business and take my primary opportunity to share with my growing network. It’s been an incredible learning curve. So many different concepts to grasp, techniques, tools, and then to grapple how everything fits together. It is wonderful to utilize this incredible medium.

Many people assume starting a business online is straightforward and simple therefore anyone can do it!! And it’s true, anyone can do it; but no one who ever succeeded ever said it was easy.

Different articles written on online business have suggested many online businesses fail, even suggesting that 95% fail. [I don’t have verification; perhaps you may know the statistics.]

In the face of those overwhelming odds, many don’t know how or where to start, or gave up just when they were on the verge of succeeding.

To those starting out, I offer this simple advice”it’s like eating an elephant –just take one bite at a time”

If you are considering an online business, realize that it does take time and that a successful online business is built on principles that are common to all successful e

nterprises. To ignore these is to invite frustration, wasted effort and diminishing returns.

To those starting out, I offer the insights I have gained from my tribe of peers and mentors; distilled through time and experience…… things that have helped me to overcome some of the struggles and resistance; simple solutions that have assisted me in getting results.

Be prepared ….. Some will jump in without doing any research or education to understand the online world and when it doesn’t work they throw up their hands in utter desperation.

Solution …..

a. Personal Development: This is the starting point to your success… understanding and growing; developing yourself, understanding what makes you unique. What are you passionate about? It has been wisely said that “your business will only grow to the degree that you personally develop”. This is a journey of personal development thinly disguised as a business. I have grown personally and a huge part of that growth has been gained through the team at Klemmer & Associates (klemmer.com), but there is so much available. Find what works for you!

b. Business Plan: It’s very essential to work to a business plan. Understand the big picture; get your business in perspective just as you would for a business offline. Know yourself, your market, what you bring and how you present and deliver it.

c. Online Industry: Develop an understanding of the industry, what works and fits with your core values, and what opportunity you want to promote.

d. Training: Find a training system that empowers you to become a REAL entrepreneur which delivers results, supports step by step in your online journey, provides mentoring and an ongoing community and education. The “7-Figure Networker” has empowered the entrepreneurial spirit to move me forward and the source of invaluable assistance. http://bit.ly/bhOOwp This system is duplicable excellent to promote to your teams as they are taught from the best in the industry and encouraged to go out and take action.

e. Mentoring… ALL successful people have coaches and mentors. When you have a “lone ranger mentality”… that you can do it all yourself…you will do it the hard way. You may be a very talented and creative person or perhaps a whiz kid, but you can’t beat leverage! Connect to a group Plug-in where there is knowledge, experience, and accountability. Learn together, and share the struggles and celebrate the wins… it creates the synergy that will take you viral. True success is being able to take other people with you. It’s not just about you but how much value you can give and share with others.

Having connected with “The Tribe Intensive Mastery” group it has been a priceless investment to my growth and development for my online success. Consider it very important to be connected to like minded people who support you with value, also providing accountability.

The “tribe” brings the synergy with syndicating and honoring the “tribes” online contribution with blogs posts .The opportunity to partner with fellow tribe members in their business opportunity or creating joint ventures with them. http://bit.ly/ajecrX

f. Building strong relationships: Learn how to apply this online as this is an essential key ingredient to your success. It’s not just about communicating what you have to say or sell. It’s about caring and connecting with people for “when you touch people’s hearts and connect with them – relationships develop”. John Maxwell’s new book title tells the story: “Everyone Communicates, Few Connect”.

2. Under Financed - with limited financial resources you may experience some challenges, however there is often a way you can “ earn as you learn” through the programs offered either as a “ business opportunity” or “ affiliate marketing”.

Solution…….

a. Free training: There are so many free webinars, conference calls, blogs, and videos available to assist you to get started. There is a significant success principle demonstrated here….PROVIDE VALUE and you will have followers!

b. Invest in yourself: However if you are truly serious about being successful online you will invest in training & courses to educate and develop new skills and abilities, and build your “toolkit”.

3. Reluctance to put time in. We naturally tend to adopt the instant-quick fix- turn around, but in this business it doesn’t deliver either the results or the dividends you want.

Solution…….

Manage your time: Work out how much time you have to put into this business… some one said “ if you treat your business like a hobby you business will pay you accordingly”

The advice of many internet marketer trainers in relation to establishing your online business is that you need to “go slow to go fast”. This is all about building a strong foundation to get the results …

So if you are just starting out have a teachable spirit take the time to listen and learn from those who have gone before. As they have so much value to give and a willingness to share their knowledge and experience. However don’t allow your own resistance to stop you from taking those the steps to ensure your online success and reaching your dreams and goals.

“ Be an Empowered Entrepreneur” 2010-03-17

January and February have come and gone and yet why is 2010 shaping up to be the best year yet in regard to personal, business and life vision? Maybe it’s because everything is coming to a point of convergence. ( as one book calls it “ Tipping Point”) All the books I’ve read; CD’s DVD’s watched and listened to; seminars attended……over the years they have all touched me and challenged me to move forward and make significant changes, however I never achieved the REAL results I desired and believed were possible. The song within my heart almost died unsung, and the dreams and visions for significance almost withered.

So why are things different now with the desire for great results? The passion fire reignited! The discovery and reality hit me that the price I’ve been paying for not playing a bigger game in life has not served me well in my health, community, finances and business.

Choices and changes…..first it was in my health. I had redefined normal as I was not performing at my optimum level. Now my wellness practitioner is partnering with me in getting my body back into shape. I was facing a health challenge affecting my thinking and my ability to cope [much less prosper]. Even my scales had issues and noticed the kilos increase slowly over several months!! So armed with an eating plan and some real-food nutritional support I embarked on a recovery process. I knew if I gave my body what it needed, it would restore health and health itself and it was my desire to do it safely and naturally.

With focused intention to get well and to see great results, the past 5- 6 weeks have seen my energy levels increase. I’ve been going to the gym more often, seen my strength and fitness improve, and [bonus!!] the scales are feeling a little relief as I have dropped nearly 6 kilos in just over 5 weeks. Now that my intention is clear the results come, so one of my goals is to getting back into my wedding dress (there I have said it to the world!!! It’s been 35 years in August since I was in it).

In mid-January my mentor approached me to participate in a 90-day challenge. Despite being a little apprehensive I ventured to take the step and made a commitment with team members. This is the first time ever I have participated in a 90-day challenge, along with a mentor and fellow team members. The experience has very challenging, yet exciting, as all participants have entered into agreement with ourselves and then with the group ( that was a lesson in itself). It is interesting that one of the main challenges was to clarify what is my true intention. Each day when taking action, is that action moving me forward toward my goals?

I believe getting a healthy mind where I was able think clearly, made all the difference in being able create my true intentions and therefore I actually have the energy to move forward. There had been several unfinished aspirations in regards my online presence and my business I needed to address. To make and keep agreements and understand my true intention and the accountability from my tribe was what I needed to achieve results.

“The key to living an extraordinary life is making extraordinary agreements and keeping them and being emotionally involved with your commitments; this is driven by the power of your passion”. I had heard about agreements in seminars, read and listened about them, but until I faced the fact that by not honoring the commitments I had made to myself I was causing major tension within myself and couldn’t move ahead…..an “AHAH” moment!!!!

It’s interesting to realize broken goals will lead us to a succession of smaller safer goals ultimately ending in mediocrity. Breaking our word leads to shame, blame and guilt. I had to realize that guilt can be a game I play, because it’s easier to feel guilty than to KEEP the agreements and produce the results.

We are now 30 days into our 90 day challenge. It’s been an amazing time of personal growth and stretching, the fear and apprehension has turned to excitement to all that is happening. One thing that has hit home just today was if I want to be an authentic leader I need to lead myself. “True Leadership start with ourselves.”

These past 30 days the “Rubber has hit the road” and momentum is building. The next 60 days is about gaining speed as I up my intentions and making bigger agreements.

Maybe you have participated in a 90 day challenge. Please share the results you experienced

Over the past few years my husband, John, and I have had the privilege of facilitating workshops where people discover through interactive learning experiences their unique giftedness, passion, abilities, personality, and how these have intertwined through life experiences to equip them to serve not only within their church community but in their families, community and business.

“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them.”( Henry David Thoreau )Discovering your uniqueness has the power to break the bonds of desperation; it is that energizing and empowering.

Every one of us has been created with gifts, abilities, passions, personality and life experiences… all these have shaped to make us who we are today. It’s empowering to recognize there is ONLY one of US in this world. We are special!!

The wrapping is not what makes a gift special. Unless we take the time to unwrap our giftedness, we never really discover what the treasure is inside!! Sometimes we may hesitate to unwrap the gift, because the wrapping is hard to get off (personal growth and self discovery are hard work!). (“I have it all together – it just looks great the way it is”)or, the beautiful ribbon looks too good to mess up and I could never tie a bow like that (“ Oh I’m too busy holding everything together to pursue my dreams”). Unaware…afraid…preoccupied with the tyranny of the urgent..too busy to take the time to see the real treasure inside… and the gift we have in our heart and hands remains powerless to change our lives and our world.

The department stores have a special gift-wrapping service at special times: it’s time for the people of power to provide an unwrapping service; getting alongside people and helping them unwrap their giftedness. No two presents are ever the same. In a cookie-cutter world, we have been created with a unique and extraordinary shape, to find our place in this world – a unique niche where only we could fit. A place to bring value to our sphere of influence- a place to unwrap and enjoy- a unique place to serve our world with all our knowledge, abilities, care, understanding, skills, abilities, support, heart, enthusiasm, energy, humor, fun, training, strengths, confidence, artistry, creativeness, optimism, warmth, inspiration, friendliness, love ,compassion, encouragement and service, gentle spirit, leadership, loyalty and so much more.

When we serve by “adding so much more in value that we take in payment”, we live lives of significance; impacting our communities, churches, businesses, teams, clubs, and tribes and the world in which we live. To walk this “road less traveled” is a powerful antidote to a life of quiet desperation.

“The most valuable gift you have to give is yourself”
