“ Do Dreams Make Heroes !!” Australia’s Newest Hero

Do Dreams Make Heroes?
What is a Hero?
We all have different dreams from making a million $’s, to building that non-profit organization that will change underprivileged families, being able to support children in orphanages to supporting our families and other people achieve; and so when we achieve our dreams do we become heroes in their eyes?
Many people define heroism in the context of their own principles and redefine what it means.
SATURDAY’S HEADLINES…….Teenage sailor Jessica Watson has returned home to a hero’s welcome at the Sydney Harbour foreshore after her epic solo around the world voyage.
Saturday 15th May will go down in history for Australia and for “Jessica Watson a 17 year old who arrived back in Sydney after sailing solo and unassisted around the world in 210 days. As Jessica realized her dream come true, she was welcomed by thousands of people and an amazing welcome … Watch her in the video about the welcome she received .
Jessica was interviewed at her official reception and told the crowd that “she wasn’t anything special. I’m an ordinary girl who believed in a dream….” She said. “You just have to have a dream, believe in it and work hard.”. When asked how she did it, she said “It was accomplishing the small steps that really gave me the confidence to continue to pursue my dream,” then urged others to follow her example by living out their dreams.
“I don’t consider myself a hero. I’m an ordinary girl who believed in her dream.”
Jessica said she hoped her voyage proved what could be achieved by setting your mind to achieving your dream.
Jessica reflected on times when, as a girl growing up and learning about sailing, she had been overlooked because of her gender and her size. “As a little girl … people don’t think you’re capable of these things. They don’t realize what young people, what 16-year-olds, and what girls are capable of.
“It is amazing when you take away those expectations what you can do and what you can achieve.
Does it take a hero to achieve a dream, or do dreams make heroes? What do you think?
As we achieve our dreams and visions we have the potential to become heroes to those whose lives we touch. “You don’t have to be someone special to achieve something amazing. You’ve just got to have a dream, believe in it and work hard.”

Kaye, fabulous post! This young woman absolutely inspired the socks of me, I believe it is our dreams that make us heros.
“It was accomplishing the small steps that really gave me the confidence to continue to pursue my dream”. It’s the old saying “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” This little lady is an inspiration to all, proof that noone should be taken at face value, and that sometimes it really does feel like your at war, all to achieve your dream, but dang its worth it! Such an inspiring young woman!
Thanks Kaye!
